Our History

CG6535

On the night of 28 February 2012, CG6535 crashed in Mobile Bay and all crew were lost. In honor of their service and sacrifice, members of nearby USCG Airsta New Orleans organized the first “6535 Memorial Workout” on the one year anniversary of this tragic loss. The workout’s structure and scheme is designed to honor each of the four heroes from the ‘35, and its annual recurrence is tied to the anniversary of their loss. While the USCG Aviation Workout to Remember has grown to honor all aviators who have paid the ultimate sacrifice so others may live, it will always have its roots in the crew of CG6535.

LT Morgan Garrett

On 23 October 2020 LTJG Garrett gave her life in the performance of duty when the T6 Texan aircraft she was flying crashed in Alabama during a training mission. Friends and classmates from the CGA CrossFit and CC/TF teams created the “Fly High” Memorial Workout in her honor.

Today the annual event honors all of the lives lost in Coast Guard Aviation. Since 2012, the Workout to Remember has raised more than $23,000 for the Coast Guard Foundation’s Fallen Heroes Scholarship Fund.
